Location: Rochester Academy Middle School

Hourly Rate: $16/hr

Hours: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM (Monday to Friday)

Job Description:

TES Staffing in partnership with Rochester Academy is seeking a reliable, hard-working, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Custodian. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of our school facility to ensure a welcoming and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.

As a Custodian, your responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities:

• Daily Janitorial & Cleaning Tasks: Perform routine cleaning of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas to ensure cleanliness and hygiene. This includes sweeping, mopping, dusting, and wiping down surfaces.

• Snow & Ice Removal: Shovel and remove snow and ice from designated areas such as sidewalks, entryways, and roof as needed to maintain safety during the winter months.

• Lawn & Garden Maintenance: Mow and trim lawns and shrubbery around the school grounds using a mower and other landscaping equipment.

• Floor Care: Sweep, mop, polish, and strip floors in rooms and hallways to keep floors looking clean and well-maintained.

• Furniture and Carpet Care: Vacuum, spot clean, and/or shampoo rugs, carpets, and furniture to maintain cleanliness and extend their longevity.

• Purchasing for School Events: Assist in purchasing supplies and materials for all organized events, ensuring necessary items are available for school activities and functions.

• Respond to Requests: Promptly respond to requests made by the Business Office and Administrators for additional cleaning tasks or maintenance needs.

Qualifications:

• Prior custodial or janitorial experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative in maintaining cleanliness and safety throughout the school building.
• Ability to lift and carry cleaning equipment and supplies, as well as move furniture as needed.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment is a plus.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Must be able to work effectively in a school setting and maintain a professional demeanor with staff and students.
• Physical stamina to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks for extended periods.
• Must purchase and to pass a background check through NYS TEACH, as required for all school personnel.
