Summary:

The Boyle County Health Department is accepting applications for a Contracted Full-Time Harm Reduction Community Health Worker.

Description:

General Duties include :

  • Promote and oversee Harm Reduction Syringe Exchange (HRSEP) program operations, including maintaining compliance with any existing local or state regulations or statutes.
  • Work with local community partners and resources to increase participation in the HRSEP.
  • Plan public events, facilitate and conduct NARCAN trainings, HIV/Hep C testing as well as any other public health related task that cultivates a proactive approach to substance use disorder, mental health, and over-all health and well-being within Boyle County.
  • Complete Redcap reporting for HRSEP, Narcan and Fentanyl Test Strips as required by program standards. Assists in reporting information as required for the regular reporting of use of Opioid Abatement funds.
  • Participate and positively represent BCHD in community meetings, e.g., ASAP and all other meetings as needed/assigned.
  • Promote and oversee the Homelessness grant program operations, including maintaining compliance with any existing local or state regulations or statutes.
  • Plan public outreach including direct contact with the population of unhoused individuals on an ongoing basis.
  • Work closely with all schools in Boyle Co on topics of public health importance, including but not limited to tobacco cessation/substance abuse – this includes partnering with the school system to conduct on-site class-room education during and after school.
  • Develop and implement a public PR campaign to continually promote substance use awareness/treatment needs/community response.
  • Represent the programs at Fiscal Court/City Commission meetings and all other meetings as needed.
  • Provide a monthly report of achievements and accomplishments to immediate supervisor for reporting purposes by email no later than the end of each month.
  • Work with the KY Dept for Public Health always to promote programs/complete program requirements/develop a positive working relationship.
  • Attain Community Health Worker (CHW) certification.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Training or Experience : High School Diploma/GED, Adult Peer Support Specialist/Recovery community experience preferred.

Must have proficiency in oral and written communication and possess and certain level or relatability with the public. Must be able to manage time and multi-task and navigate a face paced environment. Must be able to work well with others as well as manage tasks on an individual basis. Must be proficient with all Microsoft Office applications and the extraction of data from various state-wide databases.

Starting Salary /Compensation :

  • Employee will be paid on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Not to exceed 37.5 hours per defined work week or 75 hours per pay period unless written approval by supervisor.

Physical Requirement:

Current TB skin test indicating no evidence of communicable disease.

The standard work week will consist of 37.5 hours. The employment is designated as Full-Time contract employment consisting of 26 bi-weekly pay periods totaling 1950 hours. Benefits will be provided the same as defined for the Full Time Employee by the Department for Public Health Personnel Regulations 902KAR Chapter 8 to include Retirement, Vacation, Sick, Comp, Health Insurance, Dental and Life Insurance. The employee will be obligated to contribute a share for any of these benefits as defined by the Department for Public Health, Kentucky Retirement System, Kentucky Employer’s Health Plan or any other governing
