Our growing law firm is looking to hire a family attorney who is fiercely passionate about representing clients facing one of the most challenging times in their lives. Candidates should be adept at preparing necessary legal documents in connection with prenuptial agreements, initiating and finalizing divorces, alimony, child support/child custody, and real estate. Experience in handling legal issues such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence is also a must. If you have a proven record of success both in and out of court, apply now! Responsibilities: • Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings • Draft pleadings, motions, contracts, marital settlement agreements, judgements, and orders for a high volume of cases • Assist clients effectively by understanding their needs analyzing the situation then strategizing and deciding on a proper course of action • Develop case strategies, provide leadership, and guide paralegals and legal assistants • Handle full caseloads independently, from case inception to resolution • Conduct in-depth legal research and prepare memos on complex case issues • Appear in court for various family law proceedings, representing clients in high-stakes situations • Prepare clients for trials, advocate on their behalf, and work with experts when necessary • Oversee the division of marital assets and negotiate settlements in divorce cases • Maintain organized client files, ensuring documentation accuracy and timeliness • Cultivate relationships with clients, providing clear communication and emotional support through challenging situations Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are required • Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association) • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in highly stressful and emotional situations • Strong knowledge base of representing plaintiffs and defendants • Prior work or studies in criminal justice preferred Who We’re Looking For: • Experience: Minimum of 6 years in Family Law litigation and courtroom advocacy (required) • Licenses: Licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia • Skill Set: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strategic problem-solving, and attention to detail • Mindset: A compassionate and resilient advocate with experience navigating high-stress, emotional cases with a client-focused approach • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in analyzing and summarizing legal documents with strong attention to detail • Team-Focused: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a supportive team environment Preferred Qualifications: • Estate Planning experience • Proven success in advocating for both plaintiffs and defendants • Strong negotiation skills, especially under stressful conditions About Company: At The Murphy Law Firm, we’re experiencing rapid growth and have earned a strong reputation for delivering exceptional, client-centered legal services.
