Job Description



The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is responsible for medical oversight, direction, and leadership of the medical staff regarding all areas of healthcare for the project. The CMO will ensure International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. provides a comprehensive range of medical care to US government employees and contractors in Iraq. They will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care delivery in primary care, urgent care clinics, and initial emergency care services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervises all healthcare providers at Department of State clinics including but not limited to health promotion and disease prevention, health maintenance counselling and education, diagnosis and directed physical exams, emergent and annual vaccinations, and comprehensive STD testing.
  • Limited chronic care which shall be limited to preexisting, diagnosed, and treated chronic conditions.
  • Provides primary care but not limited to GYN, dermatology, ENT, pulmonary, neurological, cardiovascular, ophthalmology, orthopedics, psychology, and gastroenterology.
  • Participate in the assessment and stabilization of patients requiring urgent or emergent care.
  • Collaborate with on-site physicians, physician assistants, support staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Maintain compliance with all project site procedures, standards, and continuing educational and mandatory training requirements.
  • Participate in MASCAL exercises.
  • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications



Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Board-Certified in Emergency Medicine/Family Medicine/Internal Medicine.
  • Full unrestricted U.S. Licensure required in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • Current Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) are required.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Minimum 5 years’ recent experience including 6 months within the last year.
  • Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.

Education Required:  

  • MD or DO is required. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges: Liaison Committee on Medical Education or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Requirements:

  • Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs.

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
  • Valid US Passport with at least 18 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, specifically a MRPT. Applicants with current clearances are preferred.
  • Must be able to relocate to Iraq for the duration of the project.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
